A position that has traditionally not been the strongest in comparison to it's peers, could quite possibly be one of the strongest and deepest positions in 2024. The top of the class has a super high upside with some strong accolades.
Luis Arraez - The electric Arraez had an insane 2023 boasting an All Star appearance along with a Silver Slugger award. Arraez seemed like a lock every game to put up a multi-hit performance this past season. Luis showed no sign of slowing down and is expected to produce in a similar manner in 2024.
Mookie Betts - With manager Dave Roberts confirming that he intends to use Mookie primarily at second base in 2024, Mookie can certainly be the top of this class. The dynamic hitter who hammered 39 home runs while hitting over .300 in 2023 seems to only be getting better with age. Betts has always viewed himself as a second baseman and could scarily outperform 2023 given he'll now primarily be in his preferred defensive position for the first time in his career.
Marcus Semien - Semien made it to the promise land in 2023 winning his first World Series title while being a staple in the Texas line up day in and day out. Semien played all 162 games this past season while slugging 29 home runs and hitting for a .276 average. Marcus also had a strong post season batting .292 with a pair of homeruns. The All Star and Silver Slugger's ability to stay healthy and produce gives the returning World Series champs one of the strongest middle infield duos in the bigs.
Ozzie Albies - One of the best values in baseball recorded another monster season in 2023 slugging 33 home runs with a .280 average. With Albies hitting in an absolutely loaded Braves' lineup, you can only expect the numbers to stay strong in 2024.
Nico Hoerner - Nico brings something completely different to this list compared to his counterparts. Hoerner batted .283 in 2023 while swiping 43 bags. Not necessarily a power threat, Nico still creates havoc with his speed on the bases. Hoerner also has elite level defense winning his first Gold Glove award in 2023. Expect Hoerner to continue to steal bases and likely win a second Gold Glove in 2024.
Sleeper Pick to be on the list at year end - Bryson Stott - Stott had a strong 2023 in his first full year in the bigs. Stott hit .280 with 15 home runs and 31 stolen bases. Stott seems to just be hitting his stride in the city of brotherly love. It would not be surprising to see the home run and average tick up a bit in 2024.
